Bright Yellow Fashion, M ….?

I like the color yellow, from the soft pastels to the brilliant and bold brights. It is a pleasant color to play with. Good place to start.

Now, M? Me, mine… who knows what it is supposed to mean exactly but for me it could be a few things. Oddly enough a few of my nicknames start with an M. One of which is Madrid- people used to call me the “Spanish version of Paris” for quite some time and the name Madrid kept with me. Oddly enough my last name starts with an M, too- so perhaps there is another option, lol.

It never occurred to me until after I bought the top, about the letter M. I just thought it was a cute and comfortable top that could easily be matched with anything. I love the material and color, and the design of the M has a lovely feel to it.

Funny how things work out!

So what does M mean to you? Maybe its just marvelous ;)

Because Sometimes You Want A Splash Of Color

Sometimes a little color is in order- you just feel like it perhaps. I know I can get that way from time to time, especially when wearing black or neutral colors. Brings out a different attitude and above all is quite fun.

So a while back I had done this photo shoot and really enjoyed the make up when all was said and done. Here is a glance to your right of what it was. Simple little touch and great color- I loved it. It inspired me to bring it into my style.

Also, I like to wear my hair in pigtails from time to time, lol. I think it is cute and a nice touch with the right style.

So here I did my own little touch from the inspiration of the shoot, and dressed it up with a bold hot pink lipstick. Very daring and very bold all together, but fun for that every once in a while thrill.

The eyes with the color alone I think can be worn in any way you wish to- cute, daring, elegant, etcetera, you name it.

Blue is right there with black on elegance, especially the darker shades. Blue mascara can be a fun touch, and the darker and richer the more subtle and curious appeal.

Bold, Red, And Feeling Lucky With A Bow

I always thought I was an ox, and it was only recently I found out I am a rat. Being a Capricorn, my birthday is in January- which is the beginning of our year. Whenever I look at the Chinese fortunes, they are determined from year of birth. Naturally I always looked at it with my birth year in mind, the one designated by our calendar. It never occurred to me to look at it with the Chinese Calendar in mind. Obvious, I know now- since their year begins in February- that makes my birth year the previous one, and thus I am a rat.

Anyway, we are currently in the year of the Rat, which is what brings me to this post. Wearing a red ribbon (traditionally around the waist, wrist, or ankle) during your Animal year (which cycles every 12 years) brings you luck. As I am now aware that it is currently my year, I thought it nice to incorporate it into my fashion.

I tend to do so with a big and bright red ribbon around my wrist or as a belt around my waste (outfit allowing of course). The ribbon I have been using is a very distinct red, and when I found this cute top that matches it EXACTLY I couldn’t pass it up. Even the material has the same sheen to it. A lucky find, indeed. I’m wearing the ribbon in my hair in the photo (don’t think it has the same effect for luck there, but I still do quite like it, and it keeps my mind on a positive outlook).

It is such a rich color and I am loving it. I tend to wear only black with this top, as it is so bold and bright any other colors would be competing. I like just one thing to stand out, and in this one it is definitely the color (though the back is a nice touch, too).

Alright Rats, may the year bring you much luck and happiness! xx

Louboutin Redefines Manicures For Nails

Louboutin is constantly finding new ways to be involved in my fashion world. And this time, from an unexpected source.

Miss Zoe Pocock of the exclusive Daniel Galvin Salon in London has introduced us to the Louboutin Manicure- simple, elegant, and sultry.

Pictured here from Grazia Magazine is the classic red beneath the shoe we all adore translated to the nails by being painted underneath. The top of the nails are black to match the shoe, though truly it can be done in any color to match whichever of Christian Louboutin’s shoes you may be wearing. So long as the red is in place you are ready to go.

I am anxious to try it myself, just as soon as my nails grow to a decent length again. In the meantime I am feeling quite inspired to play with some colors a bit on my own.

Another Splash for Nails

Whether its business or play, the color you paint your nails should never be limited to routine. This year I have bounced around from nudes with the faintest hints of color or shimmer, whites that are clean and bold, brilliant and rich tropical pinks and reds, and the deepest shades of burgundy.

Played right with a matching or contrasting outfit and the intrigue grows stronger. Looking through my nail polish collection I realized there is someone who has been neglected this year that is ready to be known again- the pastels, particularly the matte pastels. Even little silver is starting to move its way forward. Deep and royal blue made its way last winter as the new red, there is something sophisticated and rich about it. Somewhat daring yet divine.

But what of the pastels, the lavenders, pale yellows and corals? Watermelon has already began its move forward with a bold and deep color- perhaps other fruits are soon to follow in the color department. It just sounds so spring and summer not to mention playful and young. I think some warm and soft colors are ready now.

Change things up a bit. Of course the classics will always be there for us; but how often do you get the chance to venture out and let a little flirty creativity soar.

Silver Sultriness & A Color Splash

Classic and timeless glamor with a modern and divine twist- l o v e i t. Its almost like a fairy tale or image from Hollywood of the past. With a dress as beautiful and long as this, the hair swept back with minimal make up compliments perfectly. A little silver, or even a little white with some smart accessories can liven up a look with a dainty and delicate feel.

A short and simple ruffled white spring dress with some silver jewelry- perhaps a distinct necklace and bracelet, paired up with some silver shoes is an easily obtained masterpiece.

On the other side of spring, the more forward side I might say- is the color splash in full vibrancy. Here we have Zac Posen with a beautiful and feminine shape full of brilliant color. One distinct and bold color is a focus this spring.
Again, you can see the shoes here are silver- a fun play on the color contrast as well.

A simple shape, playful cut, and bold stand out color is a grand statement and I am quite happy to see it as well as live it.

Like the flowers, both delicate and bold are working the season.

Color Me Pretty

Its spring and the flowers outside my window are so vivid and rich in color I cannot help but wish the same. Looking at the latest trends you have bold rich color standing out- even pastels have been reinvented to a more decadent look.

It looks like an explosion of creativity and a wonderland of beauty- the couture may be excessive for actual life, but its statement is simply brilliant. I love the color, and I know I will be wearing it this season. Its too fun, and bold colored shoes with a simple and maybe cleverly shaped dress is also a must.

Much love and beautiful colors,

xx
